Dual Credit HS English with ACC ENGL 1301
11th – 12th Grades
Monday: 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm
Mr. Eason
For this class, a student must have strong writing skills and be in the upper grades of high school. He or she will have to enroll at ACC as a homeschooled high school student (dual credit), take the TSI placement test, and score high enough to be allowed to register for English Composition I (ENGL 1301). Then, the student will actually register for that class through ACC. At Focus Prep, students will be briefed by the teacher about pertinent topics that the college class is covering, assisted in understanding the syllabus and making a plan / calendar for the semester, given graphic organizers or ideas for planning out papers, and tutored in proofreading and revising papers. The student is responsible for completing the ACC assignments himself / herself — the Focus Prep teacher is there as a guide and tutor. This is an exciting opportunity for those planning to attend college, as the cost on the ACC side is small or nonexistent, depending on the situation. Plus, it gives the advantage of getting a college class or two checked off their degree plan before leaving home.
